Get involved

Since the group started in 2002, we have raised money for the reinstatement of the footpath from Harlow Moor Road to Harlow Carr Gardens, prevented the felling of a lot of trees to create a car park, and planted thousands of daffodils with the help of local primary school children.

We’ve created habitat piles for small mammals and insects to in turn increase the diversity of birds in the woodlands, and have put up more than 40 bird boxes and a similar number of bat boxes. Both have been very successful – with the bird boxes enjoying a 90% usage rate!

We have also put a bird feeding station near to the telescope (which we also provided!) which is replenished daily.

There are lots of ongoing tasks including maintaining the paths, tree planting and the constant battle trying to control the Himalayan Balsam.

If these are the kind of things you are interested in, why not join the group or come along to our next work day (see news and events section in top left).
